Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to switch off all the electricity on Sunday, 5, April 2020 for 9 minutes, has put the state electricity department in jeopardize

“Actually, when the lights were switched off for nine minutes, the electricity demand will fall abruptly and the whole system will collapse” said an official of electricity department. As per the officials of Punjab state transmission corporation limited “whenever the demand, supply falls abruptly or if some state withdraw the power more than the sanctioned load, the grid collapses. In this case also, if pre precautionary measures were not taken by any state, the grid will collapse, as with the switching off at one time, the demand of power falls abruptly and this will led to a long blackout”

If a grid collapses, the whole state may be neighboring states may also go for full blackout for many hours and with this the emergency services, hospitals may come to a standstill and affect them badly.

Now, all state electricity departments are contacting the National Load Dispatch centre to guide them, what to do or what measures should be taken as precautionary measures in advance, so that the grids run without any problem. Now, National Load Dispatch Centre will take a call and guide the SLDC’s to what to do.

SLDC keep accounts of the quantity of electricity transmitted through State grid.
