Police found the letter on social media was handiwork of unscrupulous elements- Vipin Sharma

The Patiala police have registered a case and booked Harwinder Singh Rana and three others for allegedly circulating a fake letter on social media against the current president of Veer Haqiqat Rai Sabha Vipin Sharma. Harwinder Singh Rana is a former president of the Veer Haqiqat Rai Sabha.
Vipin Sharma is also the secretary of Rajindra Gymkhana and Maharani Club Patiala.
The other three who are accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar Sharma of Bachittar Nagar, Brahm Prakash of Urban Estate and Gurnam Singh of Krishan Colony.
Addressing mediapersons at Patiala Media Club , Vipin Sharma said that following a probe, the police have booked Harwinder Singh Rana , former president of the Veer Haqiqat Rai Sabha along with three others under sections 384 9extortion), 500 (defamation) , 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) , 419 (cheating by personation) , 420 (cheating and dishonestly including delivery of property), 465 (forgery) , 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using a genuine as forged) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC at Civil Lines Police Station. The Police have arrested Brahm Prakash where as the other accused are yet to be arrested.
He further said that a complaint was filed by Sharma which said that Harwinder Rana was accused in a case of embezzlement of the sabha’s fund and a case was registered against them. “When I joined as the president of the sabha, Rana start pressurising me to withdraw the case against him. The accused conspired against me when I refused” he said.
In April, just before the parliamentary elections, “ they wrote a fake letter which accused me of sexually harassing a girl and sent it to various organizations and uploaded it on social media. Even Shiromani Akali Dal had urged the Election Commission to direct the Punjab police to take immediate action against a board member who was accused of raping a minor girl” said Vipin Sharma.
During the investigation, the police found that the accusations were false.
