President of India, Ram Nath Kovind wishes Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing Industries in the Government of India and Lok Sabha MP from Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal, on her birthday. The President” wished her a long and healthy life , so that she will be able to serve the nation nicely”. She is a member of Shiromani Akali Dal Party and her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal is the president of Shiromani Akali Dal, an alliance of BJP.

Prime Minister Modi also send her greetings. He tweeted “Birthday greetings to my Cabinet colleague @HarsimratBadal_Ji. Her efforts to strengthen the vital food processing sector are admirable. She is also passionate about the progress of our hardworking farmers. I pray for her long and healthy life.”

Her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal tweeted an old photo of with greetings” Happy b’day Harsimrat’. The workers of SAD, YAD also congratulated her, on her birthday.

 

Harsimrat was born on 25 July 1966 to Satyajit and Sukhmanjus Majithia (Shergill) in Delhi. She is a matriculate, born and brought up in New Delhi.She did her schooling from Loreto Convent School, New Delhi. Harsimrat later entered into the field of textile designing and pursued a three-year course in textile design. She married Sukhbir Singh Badal on 21 November 1991. The couple has two daughters and a son.

Harsimrat started her political career with the 2009 Indian general election. She was part of a project named “Nanhi Chhan” to save girl child and trees. Harsimrat has been re-elected as an MP from Bathinda in 2014 having defeated Indian National Congress-People’s Party of Punjab joint candidate, Manpreet Singh Badal. For this, she has been appointed in the Modi government as State Minister for Food Processing.She got elected for 3rd time in a row from Bathinda in 2019 Lok Sabha election. She defeated the Congress candidate Amrinder Singh Raja Waring in a close fight with around 21000 votes.
