Hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule visit to UP’s state capital, Lucknow, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted a viral video of an SUV running over farmers at a protest in Lakhimpur Kheri district of the state.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, arrested in the early hours of Monday on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri and UP police has  detained her .

She is this time holding up a mobile phone and playing the video in full, asking why the Union minister has not been removed as yet. The Congress general secretary followed it up with a pointed question for the Prime Minister.

“@narendramodi Sir, your government has kept me in custody for the last 28 hours without any order and FIR. This person who crushed the annadata (farmers) has not been arrested yet. Why?” Priyanka Gandhi asked this morning, tweeting a viral video clip which appears to show farmers being run over by an SUV.

The 27-second video clip, one can see farmers falling to the ground as the vehicle rams them, while others scramble to get out of the way, when the SUV hits the farmers from behind. Another SUV, following with sirens blaring, is seen tailing the SUV that rammed the farmers is  being shared widely on social media, is yet to be verified by the police. royalpatiala.in cannot independently verify its authenticity.

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed and a dozen injured after a protest against the Centre’s three agriculture laws in Uttar Pradesh’s district turned violent on Sunday.

Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Lucknow to participate in a three-day urban conclave event, which will be hosted by Uttar Pradesh’s urban development department. PM Modi will inaugurate ‘Azadi@75 – New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape’ Conference-cum-Expo in the morning and will also lay the foundation stones of 75 urban projects or schemes worth ₹4737 crore during his visit, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
