Prof Raj Kumar appointed Panjab University VC

Chandigarh-Vice President of India and Chancellor of Panjab University exercising his powers conferred  by Section 10 of Panjab University Act 1947 has appointed Prof. Raj Kumar, Dean and Head Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University as Vice Chancellor of Panjab University for a term of three years with effect  from 23rd July 2018 or from the date he assumes charge of his office as the Vice Chancellor.

The announcement for the 13th Vice Chancellor of Panjab University was made four days after the three-member selection committee constituted by Vice President of India and Chancellor of Panjab University the interacted with the candidates.

Prof Raj Kumar is a D.Litt., Ph.D., MBA, M.Com. having 35 years of teaching and  research experience in the areas of Insurance, Capital Market and Entrepreneurship.  He has authored four books and has completed six major research. His special interest arena is contemporary issues like Human Values & Ethics and CSR. He has authored four books and completed six research projects besides contributing many research papers to National and International seminars, conferences and workshops. He has also conducted one refresher course, one Entrepreneurial Development program and 4 QIPs (AICTE).

The selection committee, comprising M Ramachandran, IAS (Retd.) chancellor, ICFAI University, Dehradun, Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Chairman, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla; and Dr. M. Jagadeesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, was formed by the Vice-President and Panjab University Chancellor M Venkaiah Naidu on June 27.

Of the 10 candidates called for an interaction from a total of 169 shortlisted people, the committee had presented three names to Naidu. This was the first time PU advertised the V-C’s post in its history.

Incumbent V-C Arun K Grover’s term ends on Sunday, after completing six years as the V-C of PU since July 23, 2012.
