The total hydel projects have a capacity to generate 1160.35 MW where as they are generating only 118 MW.

Independent Power Plants(IPPs) of Punjab have a total generating capacity of 3920 MW. The largest private plant is Talwandi sabo power plant (TSPL). It has a generating capacity of 1980 MW. Second largest private power plant is L&T’s Nabha Power Limited at Rajpura. It has a generating capacity of 1400 MW. The third private plant is GVK’s Goindwal sahib thermal plant having a total installed capacity of 540 MW.

Today, TSPL’s three units are generating around 1054 MW , NPL’s two units are generating around 1109 MW and no electricity is generated at GVK’s plant.
