PSPCL Hoshiarpur circle marching ahead; recovered payment from power defaulters -CMD

Under the zero tolerance policy for theft of energy of A. Venu Prasad CMD PSPCL & directions of Er. DIPS Grewal Director Distribution & Er. Jainender Dania Chief Engineer DS North Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur Circle is doing mass checking of connections for prevention of theft of energy & to regularize the unauthorized load of consumers.
Er.Parvinder Singh Khamba Dy Chief Engineer disclosed that Hoshiarpur circle of Punjab State Power Corporation limited has checked the premises of 49635 consumers of different categories and imposed fine amounting Rs/. 81.43 lacs to number of consumers and said that 70% of the assessed amount has already been recovered from the consumers.
Giving details Er.P.S.Khamba said that premises of 22417 consumers in August 2020, 22299 in Sept. 2020 & 4919 consumers from the 1/10/20 to 17/10/20 were checked by the different distribution teams of Hoshiarpur circle & charged Rs. 30.95 Lakhs, 25.27 Lakhs & 25.21 lakhs.
Similarly, to recover the defaulting bills from government and non government consumers, staff of sub division are recovering daily defaulting amount from consumers and the connections of defaulting consumers are being disconnected or consumers are being advised to pay bills in installments. Within these 2.5 months defaulting amount Rs 5.87 Crore recovered which includes 1.25 Crore from govt. connections also.
Er.Parvinder Singh Khamba Dy Chief Engineer has made appeal to consumers not to indulge in theft of energy/tampering of meters to avoid hefty fines along with registration of FIRs in police station as per electricity Act.
