PSPCL SDO alleges maltreatment by MLA and his staff; MLA said compromise reached

Normally we see almost in every movie, be it bollywood or pollywood, the politicians obstruct the functioning of a govt employee or a police official. The same situation came into light in Jalalabad area in Ferozepur district on October 30,2020.
In an allegation leveled by a gazetted officer –a sub divisional officer (SDO) and his technical staff of Punjab state Power Corporation limited on the ruling party MLA from Jalalabad Raminder Singh Awla, for threatening them, obstructing them in performing their official duty and other charges.
In a memo letter written by Er Sidharth kamboj, Assistant Engineer (SDO) city of PSPCL stationed at Jalalabad in Ferozepur district to his seniors leveled allegations against local MLA and his PA’s (Sukhbir Singh and Bhullar) that “ the staff of PSPCL Jalalabad city is performing their duty diligently, assigned to them. The powercom has assigned him to collect the defaulting amount of power bill from the defaulters of his area. As usual he is doing his duty with dedication and on October 30,2020 at 5:30 pm, he got a call from MLA Jalalabad Raminder Singh awla staff that he along with his JE’s to come at MLA ‘s office as MLA wants to meet them. On reaching MLA Raminder Singh Awla’s office, his PA Bhullar takes us to a separate room and start humiliating us and asked us to not to collect the defaulting power bill from the local residents of our area and if we didn’t stop, we will be thrashed by their people.”
Kamboj further informed that,” after a short while MLA Raminder Singh Awla came inside the room and bolted the room from inside and dictated us to not to collect the defaulting amount from the defaulters of our areas. ML directed his PA’s to keep an eye on us and if we again collected the defaulting amount, than got us booked in fake cases, vigilance cases, extortion cases and got check our houses. In the meantime MLA Raminder Singh Awla called Vicky Dhawan, a defaulter of powercom bill, inside the room and assigned him the job to got book us in fake cases, if we again go to collect the defaulting power bill amount. They pressurized us to reconnect his electricity connection, without collecting the defaulting amount from him.”
Kamboj further informed his seniors that “he is felling very low and lonely. Even his technical staff is feeling demoralized with the action of MLA Raminder Singh Awla and his PA Bhullar and Sukhbir Singh. We are doing our duty and this type of humiliation by another public representative to us is not expected. We have our own dignity. How can we perform in this situation“
When contacted the MLA Raminder Singh Awla, he said “the matter has been sorted out. My PA’s and the PSPCL staff have made a compromise. Issues with local residents were also sorted out. I am not involved in this matter and the matter is with my PA and them.”
Raminder Singh Awla is a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Jalalabad constituency. He won the 2019 Jalalabad by-election on the Indian National Congress ticket by defeating Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Raj Singh Dibbipura by 16,000 votes .
