Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has declared state mourning on December 30 (Monday) as a mark of respect to former Minister of State Jasbir Singh, who passed away on December 28 in Sangrur.

“During the state mourning, the National flag would remain fly half-mast across the state on the buildings, where it was being flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment during the aforesaid period”, added the Spokesperson, while declaring the state mourning.

But most of the Punjab government offices, be it mini secretariats, MC’s, Police, boards, corporations across state fail to implement the chief minister orders of state mourning- to fly National Flag half mast.

When contacted a commissioner of Municipal Corporation of CM city about failing to implement CM’s order, she said” I don’t about these orders and will get back to you after checking it from my office. After checking she said, yes we receive the letter of state mourning but it is only to not to do official entertainment during state mourning and there is no such information about to fly National Flag half mast. “

When contacted the Punjab Public Service Commission secretary,” she said I am on two day leave and I don’t know about these orders”.

When contacted the Patiala Divisional Commissioner, who sits in the mini sectt. said,” today i am at Chandigarh,so i don’t know about this (National Flag not flying half mast in Patiala mini sectt). If government orders anything, it must be implemented in toto. I’ll check it , why this happens”

Kunal , a businessman said, “the sincerity of government officials can be judged from this that they fail to implement the orders of state chief minister”
