Under the unlock 5.0, Punjab government has decided to open the colleges and universities from November 16. Final year medical college classes to begin from November 9.

As per available information, “in view of the needs of college and university students, the state government had decided to open government, government-aided, and private colleges and universities on November 16, under strict COVID-19 guidelines.

According to the Unlock 5 guidelines, states and Union Territories have been given the flexibility to take a decision to reopen their educational institutions. Following which some of the states have opened schools and colleges after a gap of seven months while many have not reopened yet.

He further informed that classes for final year students of universities & colleges under the medical education & research department would commence from 9th November, 2020. All these institutions should strictly observe the SOPs to be framed by their respective administrative departments in consultation with the department of health & family welfare, Punjab and the ministry concerned of the Central government.

Earlier, Punjab Government has permitted to open higher education institutions for research scholars (Ph.D.) and post-graduate students in science & technology streams requiring laboratories/experimental works in areas outside containment zones after 15th October 2020 in Punjab.
