Punjab police avoiding questions on Deep Sidhu’s arrest

As per available information, Pollywood actor, model, activist and lawyer, Deep Sidhu, accused in the violence at the Red Fort complex in Delhi on this year Republic Day during a farmers’ tractor rally has been arrested by the Special cell of Delhi police, from Zirakpur in SAS Nagar (Mohali) in Punjab.

Delhi police had announced a ₹ 1 lakh reward for leads on Deep Sidhu and three other accused, after they became fugitive, after Republic Day incident at Red Fort.

As per information special cell of the Delhi Police arrested Deep Sidhu from a hideout at Zirakpur , in SAS Nagar district. Zirakpur is just a few KMs away from Chandigarh, Haryana (Panchkula), Himachal Pradesh.

When contacted the SSP SAS Nagar (Mohali) Satinder Singh PPS, to know about the details of the operation- is it a joint operation between Delhi Police and Punjab Police , whether Delhi Police has taken Punjab Police/ district police in a loop before the raid and why he is not shown arrested from Zirakpur, he didn’t responded. When contacted the IG Ropar range Amit Prasad IPS, he said “I don’t know.” When contacted the ADGP (Internal security) RN Dhoke IPS, he said “I am not dealing with it”. When contacted the SP (Investigation) SAS Nagar Harmandeep Singh Hans IPS, he said “I don’t know anything about it, please contact SSP Sir.” A message was also dropped to the SSP SAS Nagar (Mohali), but he didn’t responded.

As per information Delhi Police has raided the hideout of Deep Sidhu, arrested him ,has taken him along with them to Delhi and will produce him before the judicial magistrate at Delhi .

Deep Sidhu was accused of fueling chaos and clashes when a tractor rally by farmers protesting the centre’s three agricultural laws went rogue on January 26, with protesters defying agreed routes and schedules and forcing their way into the Red Fort.

Deep Sidhu, 36, had been posting videos on Facebook defending himself even as teams of the Delhi police’s crime branch hunted for him. As per information, the videos were uploaded by his friend from abroad.

Delhi Police filed 44 cases and have arrested 125 people before this. Several farmer union leaders have been named in the police cases.

Deep Sidhu mostly worked in Punjabi and Bollywood (Hindi) movies. He made his debut with the movie Ramta Jogi which is produced by critically acclaimed actor Dharmendra under his banner Vijayta Films.
