Recently the Punjab Government has deployed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Punjab jails to check sneaking in of prohibited items into the jail.

With the deployment of the CRPF, it is expected that the inflow of drugs, mobile phones and other prohibited items in the jail could be completely stopped. The CRPF jawans will be deployed at the main spots on the jail premises and they can also frisk the jail staff on suspicion. They would man the strategic locations of the jail to check sneaking in of prohibited items into the jail.
