Punjabi University changes admission criteria for B. Tech admissions -Dr Maini

In view of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic in the country and uncertainty about the JEE 2021, the Engineering Wing of Punjabi University Patiala has decided to admit B.Tech (CSE, ECE, ECM, ME, CIVIL) aspiring students on the basis of 10+2 marks instead of JEE Rankings.
According to the University Spokesman, for the current academic session 2021-22, the University has decided to change the admission criteria in B.Tech courses. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/vocational/biology etc. as optional subjects. For the detailed admission procedure students can visit the admission portal https://pupadmissions.ac.in. Tentative date to apply for B.Tech in all branches will be at the end of July.
Dr. Raman Maini, Head of the Department of CSE, said that CBSE and other boards have made announcements to declare their 10+2 results by the end of July. Changing eligibility in covid times will surely help the parents to make appropriate decisions regarding admission on time. This will also help engineering departments to start their academic session on time and eventually early and timely placements of students.

Since the last 15 years, the Engineering department has a glorious placement record, which is available on the Punjabi university website. 40+ companies recruited students with packages upto 20 Lac even during the pandemic times. He also said that the Engineering wing is offering other courses like M.Tech, Ph.D. and admissions to all these courses have also been initiated on the admission portal. The Engineering Wing has also launched a special admission helpline for student’s convenience.
