Punjabi University VC conferred with Sri Guru Nank Dev Achiever Award

On the occasion of 550th Prakash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji , Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has conferred ‘Sri Guru Nank Dev Achiever Award’ to over 400 eminent Punjabi personalities for their outstanding contribution in various fields. Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Prof B.S Ghuman has also been bestowed with this coveted honour for his rich contribution in the academic field.
Prof Ghuman, during his 38 year long services to the academic world has contributed 73 research papers and 3 books. The book “Higher Education in India :Changing Scenario’, co-edited by Prof Ghuman in 2014 got widely acclaimed in higher education. Before being appointed to the coveted post of Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University he served as Dean Faculty of Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh for six consecutive terms which is record in itself. He has also been Senate member of both Panjab University and GNDU. Prof. Ghuman has widely traveled to many countries including US, UK, France, Canada, Finland, Australia, Malayasia, Italy,Singapore, China, Thailand, San Mario, Hong Kong and Austria for his education sojourns.He has completed six higher education projects including three international projects. Recently he got honoured by Paul H Appleby award by Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi for his contribution in Public Administration. He has also been in board of Director’s of Fertiliser and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. Kochi, a Government of India undertaking (Two terms). Presently he is member of fifth Pay Commission Punjab and Punjab Governance Reforms Commission.
Prof Ghuamn has also served as Chief Advisor of Finance and Economics Adviser. He has been constantly working to promote higher education for the benefit of society. Prof. Ghuman has expressed his deep gratitude to the Punjab Government for this prestigious honour bestowed upon him at state level function at IKGPTU, Kapoorthala. He said that this award gives him more sense of responsibility to work hard for their larger interest of the society. He said that it is a matter of great pride for him as this award comes to him at the time of 550th celebration of Guru Nanak Dev ji.
