Punjabi university VC Prof BS Ghuman resigned

Punjabi university vice chancellor Prof BS Ghuman has resigned from his post. As per available information, he has submitted his resignation to the chancellor and Governor of Punjab VP Singh Badnore . The state government got his resignation intimation from the governor office .
Recently he was granted an extension for three years in September this year. The university has been facing financial difficulties and VC had been unable to get the institution out of the mess it was in, since taking charge in 2017.
Punjabi university VC Prof BS Ghuman resigned. VC Ghuman was facing flake from the teaching, non teaching staff who were on indefinite protest against him over issues for delay in payment of salaries and some of his administrative decisions.
Ghuman had also been demanding a one-time help of Rs 300 crore from the state government to bail out the university, which is under a debt of Rs 150 crore. Prof BS Ghuman had held a number of meetings with representatives of the state government wherein the demands were made.Prof Ghuman met Finance Minister Manpreet Singh, Higher Education minister, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Principal Secretary Finance KAP Sinha,Secretary Higher Education Rahul Bhandari and other officials from time to time and raise the financial condition of the university with them.
Punjab government has sanctioned a special grant of Rs 20 crore to the Punjabi university in the month of July 2020.At that also, the state finance department had directed the varsity to control its expenditure and adopt immediate austerity measures.
When contacted the VC, he didn’t pickup the phone.
