Punjabi university Women Studies Centre organised Baking & Cooking workshop

Women Studies Centre of Punjabi University, Patiala in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Punjabi university, Patiala organized a Baking & cooking workshop. Initially, it was planned for housewives but on the demand of university faculty and students it was made open to them also.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arvind inaugurated the workshop and shared that Baking & Cooking Skills are the need of the hour and he suggested and guided the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management to open new avenues and opportunities for students and employees of university. He suggested to expand the activities of the department by introducing quality food & services prepared by their students for university students & staff. It will enhance hands on training skills of the students of the department.

Dr. Ritu Lehal, Director, Women’s Studies Centre, welcomed Vice-Chancellor, faculty and participants. She emphasised on present day training skills required across the gender for start-ups and entrepreneurship in the food sector.

She felt pleasure to share with the audience that out of  45 Participants present 30 percent were boys which shows breaking of the gender stereotypes in the  society. Dr. Parminder Dhillon, Head, Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management thanked Vice-Chancellor for supporting the initiatives of the department and informed that in future we can have further workshop on other food and hospitality related activities.““`

Punjabi university Women Studies Centre organised Baking & Cooking workshop . In this workshop, participants will be exposed to versatile culinary delicacies from all across the globe featuring cakes, salads, soups, starters and many more. Staff of women studies centre and Department of Tourism, Hospitality & Hotel Management facilitated and coordinated the workshop activities.

Women’s Studies Centre was allocated to Punjabi University by University Grants Commission under XI Plan, in August 2009 .Its main objective is the pursuit of a comprehensive critical and balanced investigation of the cause of gender disparity. The centre also aims at revitalizing University education bringing it closer to burning social issues and working towards their solutions.
