Rajindra hospital medico’s handling pregnant women with care; 2122 tested Covid positive in 4 months

When on one hand efforts are being made by Patiala Health Department and District Administration to take the district out of the shadow of Corona under Mission Fateh and on the other hand special Gynecology Ward has been set up at Government Rajindra Hospital’s Gynecology Department for COVID-19 positive pregnant women where the cries of newborns are echoing and giving good news to the families.

Civil Surgeon Dr.  Harish Malhotra said that since April so far 2122 pregnant women have been tested for COVID-19 in the district, out of which 48 women were found infected with COVID, of which 8 cesarean and 9 normal deliveries have been done,  while two cases of abortion and the rest have gone home after treatment.

He added that out of these, 38 were from Patiala, three from Ludhiana and one each from Sangrur, Barnala, Ludhiana, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kaithal and Gurgaon in Haryana and Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.
Similarly in the month of March 1047 children, April 987 children, May  947 babies, 930 babies in June and about 950 newborns in July opened their eyes  at district government hospital, Rajindra Hospital, Mata Kaushalya Government Hospital including 3 sub divisional hospitals, 5 community health centers and 6 PHCs .

Rajindra hospital medico’s handling pregnant women with care; 2122 tested Covid positive in 4 months.Dr. Preneet Kaur, Head of COVID Labor Room at Government Rajindra Hospital and Gynecologist said that handling delivery case of COVID-19 positive pregnant woman was no less of a challenge but hospital’s dedicated Medical ,Nursing staff and other supporting staff in the district,made it possible  by performing their duty with dedication and carried out the delivery process in a professional manner and with humane compassion.

District Family Welfare Officer Dr.  Jatinder Kansal said that on the one hand the entire medical staff of the district was struggling with COVID and on the other hand the government hospitals were diligently fulfilling their responsibility of treating the people, which was the greatest humanitarian crisis in this time of crisis.
