Rajiv Gandhi Law Uni get nod for Training Courses for Prison Officers

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has received financial and administrative approval to conduct Training Courses for Prison Officers from the Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi.

L.S. Bal DIG/Dy. Director CA, BPR&D, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi inaugurated the Training Course. K.P. Singh, DGP, Haryana State Human Rights Commission was the Chief Guest for Valedictory Session. Ashish Abrol, Commissioner of Income Tax, Patiala was the Guest of Honor.
L.S. Bal gave the information regarding the role played by BPR&D regarding jail administration and correctional administration.

Rajiv Gandhi Law Uni get nod for Training Courses for Prison Officers

Prof. (Dr.) G.I.S. Sandhu, Registrar RGNUL, Punjab, RGNUL provided the information that Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has received approval to conduct three Training Courses for Prison Officers during the financial year 2018-2019. First of these Programs is BPR&D sponsored One-Day Training Course for Prison Officers on the theme: Supreme Court Directions on Prison Reforms is scheduled on 24th December 2018, Second Training Course for Senior Prison Officers is scheduled on 28-30 January 2019 on the topic Discussion on Operational and Administrative Issues of Release with from on Rights and Entitlement of Prisoners, the third Training Programme (Five Day Programme) is scheduled in February 2019 on the topic: Prisoners’ Rights and Entitlement Law, Policies and Apparatus National and International Perspective an Update.

The first two Training Programs are for Senior Officers and the third Training Program is for Junior Officers to be conducted at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. Prof. Sandhu also interacted with the participants.

Prof. (Dr.) Gurpal Singh, Former HoD, Department of Law, Punjabi University Patiala, was one of the subject experts. He informed the participants regarding the implementation of Prison Directions that are issued by the Apex Court and High Courts. K.P. Singh, DGP Haryana State Human Rights Commission also delivered a lecture on Prison Reforms. As a subject expert,  Ashish Abrol, Commissioner of Income Tax, Patiala, delivered a lecture on the topic: Law, Technology and Prison Reforms: CCTN, Darknet and other Contemporary Issues.

Dr. Gurneet Singh Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor of Law, RGNUL, Punjab is the Program Coordinator for the Training Course at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab.
