In a first of its kind case in Punjab, after the incumbent chief minister Bahgwant Mann takes the reins of the state, a BDPO is suspended for resting during office hours.

Today K Siva Prasad financial commissioner Rural Development Punjab has issue a suspension order of Nirmal Singh, senior assistant (accounts) with additional charge of Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) Baghapurana for resting during office hours.

The government acted immediately after a video surfaced on social media where Buta Singh, resident of Samadh Bhai ke village said, “he was taking round of BDPO office in a case pertaining to encroachment of village land. But whenever I visit BDPO office, he was seen resting in a room instead of meeting people at his office. Therefore I recorded a video of his, in which he can be seen resting in a room.”
