Rupnagar Press Club organised a  ‘Meet the Press’ programme with Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav on Saturday.

While addressing the Meet the Press’ programme’ deputy commissioner said that the blueprint for the development of Rupnagar district as an eco-tourism hub has been prepared and sent to the Punjab government.

It is also proposed to construct a walking track from bird watch centre on the banks of Sutlej river to nature trail, Sadabart. She said that migratory birds along with wildlife visit the wetland, which adds to the importance of the area.

Speaking on the issue of beautification of Sirhind canal passing through Rupnagar town she said that she had surveyed the area and work on it would start soon.

Assuring that the shuttle bus service would be resumed in Rupnagar town and bus service wuldl also be started from the under construction new bus stand.

Many other issues were discussed on the occasion including traffic problem, drainage in rain water, parking problem in the town and mini-secretariat.

Rupnagar Press Club president  Bahadurjeet Singh welcomed the deputy commissioner and apprised her about the activities of the club. He said that further such ‘Meet the Press’ programmes  would be hel with prominent personalities of various fields. He also assured the district administration of full support of the Press Club.

While speaking on the occasion Press club general secretary  Satnam Singh Satti said that the administration and the press have an important role to play in the development of any sector for which it is imperative that the issues raised by the media be seriously addressed by the district administration within the stipulated time frame.

Rupnagar to be developed as eco-tourism hub-Dr Preeti Yadav. On this occasion the Chief Patron of the Press Club  Gurcharan Singh Bindra thanked the Deputy Commissioner, PCS officer Harjot Kaur, DPRO Karan Mehta and all the members.
