Safety during work is the utmost priority at Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant

The 48th National Safety Week commenced from 4th March, 2019 is being observed across India by industries, trade unions, regulatory agencies and NGOs. At Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Lehra Mohabbat, the Safety Week is being celebrated with great fervor, with the theme “Cultivate and Sustain a Safety Culture for Building Nation”.
A programme on safety was organized at GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat in collaboration with the Directorate of Factories, Department of Labour, Government of Punjab and Punjab Industrial Safety Council, which was attended by senior officers and workers of the plant in large number. The seminar was inaugurated by Er.Sahil Goyal, Asstt. Director of Factories, Bathinda &Mansa and presided over by Er. Harnek Singh Jassal, Superintending Engineer/Operation, GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat.
Er. Tej Bansal, Addl. Superintending Engineer highlighted the need of celebrating National Safety Week. Er. Sahil Goyal, who was the main speaker, elaborated the Importance of adopting safety measures-both inside and outside the workplace. He imparted knowledge to the workers of thermal plant regarding safety rules of traffic, electricityand inflammable/toxic gases like hydrogen, chlorine etc. He informed that the majority of the accidents occur due to human errors;so the rules and regulations must be followed honestly and strictly to minimize the accidents in the factories.
Er. Goyal interacted directly with the factory workers and confirmed whether they used to wear Personal Protective Equipment, and if not, then why.He appreciated the GHTP management for cultivating safety culture at work place. On this occasion, Er. Harnek Singh Jassal, Superintending Engineer expressed his views that although there is a weekly rest after working for full week, butwe should adopt safety rules throughout the year without any rest as a fatal accident occurs once in a life time. He added that at GHTP, LehraMohabbat, all the safety rules & regulations were being implemented properly and the training workshops & seminars on safety were conducted regularly.
Er. Lakhwinder Singh, Chief Engineer of the Plant, through his message instructed all the officers & workers to wear protective safety equipment while on work. He thanked Er. SahilGoyal for making the Safety Week at GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat a success. In the end, Er. Sahil Goyal, Assistant Director/Factories, Bathinda was presented with a momento and given warm farewell by Er. Harnek Singh Jassal, Superintending Engineer, Er. Arun Kumar Goyal, Addl. Superintending Engineer and Sukhbir Singh, Labour Welfare Officer.
