The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken stern notice of the sale of holy sainchis (volumes) of Guru Granth Sahib and Gutka Sahibs by e-commerce website Amazon. A legal notice is being sent to the company by the SGPC, against such practice being carried on by Amazon, against the Sikh principles.

SGPC chief secretary advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that, “It is not right to sell Gutka Sahibs of Gurbani online due to respect for Gurbani. There is huge devotion and respect for Gurbani in the minds of the Sikh community and there is a wave of outrage in the minds of Sikhs over the sale of Gutka Sahibs online by Amazon.”

SGPC sending legal notice to Amazon-SGPC Chief Secretary. He asked Amazon to immediately remove Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s sanchis and Gutka Sahib of Gurbani from its website. SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh said, “A legal notice is being sent to the Amazon Company and if they did not immediately remove the Gurbani Gutka Sahibs and sainchis from the website and send an explanation, the SGPC would take legal action against Amazon.” He also cautioned the Sikh community to beware of such anti-Sikh tactics.

SGPC takes stern notice of video on social media of a hairless youth wearing a kirpan and doing bhangra Meanwhile, SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami also strongly condemned the use of kirpan by a hairless youth, who is seen dancing in a video that surfaced on social media. He said that this action was provocative of Sikh sentiments which could not be tolerated. He said that out of the five kakaars (articles of faith) blessed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, the kirpan is an integral part of the Sikh life. He said that some hairless youths were making fun by wearing it and doing bhangra, which has hurt the Sikh sentiments.

SGPC chief secretary said that representation is being sent to Cyber Crime Cell in this regard so that strict action can be taken against these youths. He also demanded from the government to take stern action against the mischievous elements to prevent such incidents so that no one could do so again.
