Sidhu Vs Sidhu going on; Punjabis waiting anxiously for the result

All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi kept her decision pending, to whom she should made Punjab Congress chief, due to infighting in Punjab Congress. The winner or loser is “Sidhu”, as the fighting between Sidhu’s is still going on.

Congress president wants to keep both the Sidhu’s happy. She wants to make fire brand leader of Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President and on other hand she also wants to satisfy Capt Amrinder Singh’s ego.

As per earlier formula, she is going to made Capt Amarinder Singh’s close lieutenant Santokh Singh Chaoudhary (a dalit leader) and Vijay Inder Singla (a Hindu leader) as working president, to curtail the powers of to be appointed, PPCC President-Navjot Singh Sidhu. As per earlier formula, which still exists, Captain Amarinder Singh will be the campaign committee chief, Partap Singh Bajwa is likely to be the manifesto committee chairman.

Both Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu don’t have cordial relations. That’s why Capt Amarinder Singh is reluctant under Navjot Singh Sidhu’s presidentship. Moreover, PPCC president is also the member of ticket allotment committee for assembly elections, along with the Chief Minister. If, Navjot Singh Sidhu made PPCC President, he will play an equal important role in ticket allotments for the upcoming 2022 elections.

As per congress party tradition, PPCC president, becomes Chief Minister of Punjab, after winning the elections.

As part of the compromise Amarinder Singh will also overhaul his Council of Ministers, with Charanjit Channi and Gurpreet Kangar among those likely to be sacked. The seat of Vijay Inder Singla, presently a cabinet minister in Capt Amarinder Singh government is also vacant, after he takes the charge of PPCC working president. Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh and MLA and Dalit leader Raj Kumar Verka are among the three or four new faces expected. Senior congress leader Brahm Mohindra is likely to be made speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Sidhu Vs Sidhu going on; Punjabis waiting anxiously for the result. Representation of the Dalit community was one of the demands put forward by MLAs last month to the three-member committee set up by party chief Sonia Gandhi to resolve this issue.

Capt. Amarinder Singh is Sidhu by caste and Navjot Singh is also Sidhu by caste. Both are Jat Sikhs.
