Expressing its solidarity with frontline COVID warriors active to contain pandemic in Patiala, Patiala Police have registered FIR against a social media rumour monger for spreading fake information regarding CORONA.

Divulging the details, SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that as per information received from Civil Surgeon office that some persons were spreading fake information related to corona epidemic, near topkhana containment zone and also on social media platforms, a case had been registered under section 188, 186 of IPC and 51 and 54 of Disaster Management Act at PS Kotwali Patiala previous night.

He said that from a Facebook ID Ronak estates some unknown persons were provoking people against health officials and administration. As a result, hindrance was being caused in the working of Medical staff who had been deployed in Containment zone.

Reiterating District Police’s commitment, he said that all the front line warriors are working day and night to ensure safety of the people.The rumors and fake information not only cause hindrance in their work but also lower their morale. Patiala police is fully committed to take stringent legal action against these rumour mongers. SSP Sidhu further appealed to all the residents, to work as a team and refrain from sharing  unauthentic and fake information at any platform.
