After receiving the detail, FIR registered against ASI Renu Bala, from his Tarn Taran counterpart, SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu today dismissed Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI)  Renu Bala 3050/ PTL  & her husband  LR/ASI Surinder Singh 2510/PTL  from Service’s U/S 7 Police Act 1861, Rule No.16.1 of  Punjab Police Rules & Article 311 (2) of Constitution of India due to Indulging in Drug Trafficking and bringing bad name to the Punjab Police department.

An embarrassing situation occurred for Patiala police when a woman Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Renu Bala posted at Urban Estate police station in Patiala arrested for trading in drugs. She along with Nishan Singh resident of Patti in Tarn Taran district arrested by I/C narcotics cell, Patti for recovery of 50 grams heroin and 1 measuring scale (kanda). A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS act has been registered at the Patti Police Station.

The accused officer, Renu Bala, was posted at Urban Estate police station in Patiala. Her husband ASI, Surinder Singh posted at Sadar Police Station , Patiala, was arrested in the same case on Thursday and were sent on two day police remand.

Meanwhile, Patiala police have initiated a departmental inquiry against the Urban Estate SHO, Harry Boparai, for lack of supervision and loose control over subordinates and giving undue leave to Renu Bala for over two months.

Now police instructed all its officers, SHO’s to keep proper supervision and control over subordinates. It also ask them to encourage good and hardworking employees but shy away from taking action against those indulging in drugs, incompetent  & habitual wrongdoers.
