Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi, former Member Parliament Patiala, has taken exception to the encounter story of Telengana police, killing all the four alleged culprits of veterinary Doctor Rape and murder case. Dr Gandhi observed that in riding on the anger, anguish and popular sentiments of the public against the perpetrators of this heinous crime, the state and the Hyderabad Police have violated the constitutional obligation of giving fair trial to all the suspected culprits, even those involved in heinous crimes.
Suspecting foul in the circulated story, Dr. Gandhi said that instead of setting up Fast Track Courts and taking effective measures to control crime against women, the Police and the State, found out a short cut by executing the Justice in a highly undemocratic way. We are living in a democratic republic and modern society and not in medieval times and theocratic Middle East country, Dr.Gandhi observed.
Allowing Police to take the issue of ‘Justice’ into its hands will have serious repercussions in the social and political life of the country and thus pave a way for emergence of a fascist state.
Demanding judicial enquiry by sitting Judge of the Supreme Court and reminding people of fake encounters of thousands of youth and other political activists by police, in Punjab, Bengal, Andhra, Chhattisgarh and other parts of the country Dr. Gandhi demands all the democratic forces to question the legality, validity and constitutionality of this Act of police, while raising their strongest voice against all types of brutalities and criminalities against the women in the country.
