UGC invited universities to establish Chairs in the name of eminent women personalities

University Grants Commission (UGC) is going to establish Ten (10) chairs in different universities in the name of Eminent Women Academicians / Administrators/ Artists/ Scientists/ Environmentalists/ Social Reformer etc. funded by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government o India.
UGC has invited universities desirous of setting up Chairs may send the detailed proposal including the annual budget to Dr Jitendra Kumar Tripathi, Joint Secretary (Chairs), University Grants Commission within 21 days.

The academic functions of the Chairs is to engage in research and, in turn , contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the area of the study, t strengthen the role of university/ academics in public policy making, to design and execute short-term-capacity-building programmes for teachers in higher education focused towards the designated discipline of the Chair, to provide a forum for inter-university/ inter-collegiate Post graduate and research level dialogues, discussion meetings, seminars/ summer & winter schools, to publish articles / research papers/ reports/ books/ monograms, to participate in teaching and Ph.D programme of the Department or School in which it is located.
