Vice Chancellor’s of GNDU and Punjabi University got extension in service

Acting on the recommendation of the Punjab government, Punjab governor VP Singh Badnore has extended the tenure of Jaspal Singh Sandhu as vice-chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, and Professor BS Ghuman  as Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, for another three years.

Vice Chancellor’s of GNDU and Punjabi University got extension in service. Both academicians were appointed as Vice Chancellors of their respective universities in August 2017, after the Capt Amarinder Singh led congress government appointed them, after inviting applications, for the first time.

Guru Nanak Dev University Vice Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu remained the Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC), and professor in the Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy in the GNDU, which was established in 2004 and the first Department of Sports Medicine in the Indian university system, before joining the Vice Chancellor of GNDU Amritsar, three years ago.

Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Prof B S Ghuman, remained the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Professor, Department of Public Administration, Panjab University (PU), before joining as Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala. He completed his master’s in economics from Punjabi University and M Phil and Ph D from GNDU. He has around for decades of teaching experience and written many books. Ghuman has been on the Senate of the PU and GNDU. Prof. Ghuman has also been a visiting professor to several international universities. He has been associated with several organisations such as the Association of British Scholars, Chandigarh; and Indian Institute of Public Administration, Punjab and Chandigarh regional branch.
