With the message of love nature & protect environment, festival of flowers concluded at GNDU

Bhai Vir Singh Festival of Flowers, Plants and Rangoli was concluded here today in Guru Nanak University with the message of love nature and protect the environment.
A special Seminar on Floriculture was organized in the Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the University. Prof. Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences presided over the seminar. Prof. Satwinder Jit Kaur presented vote of thanks.
In the competitions of this fest, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar got the first position while Jai Singh Gill remained second. Khala College of Education, GT Road, Amritsar and BBKDAV College for Women Amritsar remained third.
She said that today there is dire need to do the effort and create awareness for the protection of the environment. She said that these types of festivals-cum-exhibitions of flowers not only attract youth towards nature but also encourage them to love and protect nature. She said that as in the era of technology, we are detaching from nature and trying to find happiness and solutions of problems from technology but we can find real happiness being close to nature.
While reading the paper of Dr. Y.C. Gupta, Dean, College of Horticulture, HP University, Dr Parminder Singh, Associate Professor, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, Prof. J.S. Bilga said that flowers are food for our soul which provides peace of mind and freshness to our inner world. He said that our youth is needed to be attracted more and more towards this direction. He said that today in floriculture there are many job opportunities. This not only give employment to our youth but also makes our surrounding green, clean and colourful.
