World University organised a webinar on “Bhagat Namdev Ji: Life, Bani and Ideology”

The Department of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised a webinar on “Bhagat Namdev Ji: Life, Bani and Ideology”. The webinar dedicated to the 750th birth anniversary of Bhagat Namdev Ji, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Prit Pal Singh. Dr. Singh said that Bhagat Namdev’s Bani establishes the ideals of religion, self-respect, equality and freedom. He also added that by understanding the Bani of Bhagat Sahib in a contemporary perspective, we can effectively face the current serious problems faced by the society.

Dr. Paramvir Singh, Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala was the keynote speaker of the Webinar. Dr. Singh said that Bhagat Namdev’s Bani protects against discrimination based on caste, inequality, violence and atheism prevailing in today’s society. He also praises the initiative of Guru Granth Sahib World University to commemorate Bhagat ji’s centenary. He said that it is the primary duty of Sikh academic institutions to spread the message of Gurmat to the world.

The webinar was inaugurated by the Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs of the University. He welcomed all the guests and members and said that Bhagat Namdev’s personality and contribution to humanity cannot be overlooked. Discussing various aspects of Bhagat ji’s life, he said that Bhagat Namdev ji has humbly broken the ego of arrogant people of power and caste and has given a boost to the masses. At the end of the Webinar, Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Head, Department of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies, thanked all the members present there and Dr. Hardev Singh, Assistant Professor was as the Moderator of the Webinar and Dr. Shruti Aggarwal was the Technical Coordinator in this Webinar.
