World university organized a special lecture on Bhagat Ravidas Ji : Life and Personality

The Department of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a lecture on the topic “Bhagat Ravidas: Life and Personality”. Along with that, a question- answer round was organized on “Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s Baani and Baanikaar”.

The function was organised to celebrate Bhagat Ravidas ji’s birth anniversary. The event was inaugurated by the worthy Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Prit Pal Singh. Dr. Singh said on the occasion that Bhagat Ravidas ji worked city of Begampura the society which was free of vice of caste discrimination. We need to lesrn from his model of caste-free society and adopt his philosophy to  create a society free from discrimination of all kinds. He said that the prevalence of  caste discrimination is a major concern in today’s society.

Attending the event as the chief guest, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, former president, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said that Bhagat Ravidas Ji is one of the important spiritual personalities of the world, who has transformed our society by freeing society of social vice of caste and class discrimination.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Paramvir Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Sikh University, Punjabi University, Patiala, while presenting views on ‘Bhagat Ravidas: Life and Personality,  said that Bhagat Ji’s teachings are very important in our society. He said that according to Bhagat ji, it is a great crime to divide people as all of us are true creation of one Akal Purakh. In the question- answer round, the First position was secured by student from the department of mathematics; Second place by students of the department of English. The third place was jointly bagged by the students of the departments of Punjabi and Physical Education.

Dr. Swaraj Raj, Dean Languages of the University ​​thanked the visiting guests and scholars. Among others, Deputy Registrar, Jagjit Singh, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Head, Department of Mathematics, Dr. Sikandar Singh, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Incharge, Department of Religious studies were also present at the event.
