NIRF 2019 ranking-Thapar ranked overall, Best University, Best Engg College in Punjab

Thapar Institute of Engg & Technology (Deemed-to-be University) Patiala tops Punjab in NIRF 2019 ranking released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, released the India Rankings – 2019 and presented the India Rankings awards to the top eight institutions in different categories at a function held in New Delhi.
The President while releasing the Ranking, noted that besides overall rankings, category-specific rankings have been undertaken for colleges and universities, as well as subject-specific rankings for engineering, management, pharmacy, architecture, law and medicine develops a spirit of healthy competition between institutions.
As per the NIRF Ranking 2019 Over all raking Thapar Institute of Engg & Technology (Deemed-to-be University) Patiala ranked 45 amongst top 100. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali ranked 66, Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana ranked 75 and Guru Nanak Dev University ranked 81.
In top 100 Universities Thapar Institute of Engg & Technology (Deemed-to-be University) ranked 27, Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana ranked 51 and Guru Nanak Dev University ranked 55 and Central University of Punjab, Bathinda ranked 95.
In top 100 Engineering Colleges, once again Thapar Institute of Engg & Technology (Deemed-to-be University) ranked 23,Indian institute of Technology Ropar ranked 29, PTU Jalandhar ranked 96
This year an increase is seen in the total number of participating institutes from 724 to 957 to 1479 over the years. The “Overall category” includes IITs, IIM’s, IISER’s, Central Universities, State Universities, Colleges and Private Institutes.
Ranking of educational institutes in NIRF is very competitive and the institutes are judged on their performance in teaching, research, professional practices, graduation outcomes and perception.
