Female Contraceptive Injections launched in Civil Hospital

New injectableย female contraceptive injections were launched at the Women and Children Hospital Bathinda. Speaking at the launch ceremony the Civil Surgeon Bathinda Dr Hari Narain Singh stated thatย ย the program known as Antara contraceptive injections has been launched to help couples space up gap between children and provide them easy birth control method.

District Family Welfare Officer Dr Ravanjit Kaur stated that the injection is useful for all couples who wish to use birth control method and is provided free of cost at government run institutions.ย ย Most of the women depend on using oral contraceptive pills, which cannot be taken after ageย ย of 35 years. She stated that Antara was an east birth control method that controls unwanted pregnancy. Within seven days of the onset of mansesย women can get the shot of injection from a trained doctor.

More information regarding it can be collected from counsellors at the hospital. Vaccination card can also be issued, which mentions date of next vaccination. After six months of every delivery the injection will be administered at civil hospital. It is pertinent to mention here that every shot has to be taken on fixed date. SMO Dr Satish Goel, medical officers Dr Meenu Bansal, Dr Anupam Sharma, Dr Luvpreet, Dr Navneet, projectionist Kewal Krishan sharma, mass media officer Jagtar Singh, BEE Harvinder Singh, nursing sister Veena Rani, Parvinder Kaur and Jagdish Ram were also present.
