The Punjab Urology Association and Oncology Committee of IMA Punjab along with Department of Advance Renal Sciences at Patel Hospital, Jalandhar organized Punjab’s First Multidisciplinary Tumor Board on Prostate Cancer.
The multidisciplinary care of prostate cancer is becoming a reality with urologists along with Radiation, Surgical and Medical Oncologists being involved in the management of people with prostate cancer. There is no doubt that comprehensive knowledge of the emerging strategies that impact treatment and keeping a rest of the latest clinical trial data helps improve outcomes.
Prostate cancer Multidisciplinary Tumor board is a result of our continuous effort to identify unmet educational needs and provide the multidisciplinary management team with the necessary practical knowledge to effectively care of people of prostate cancer.
The main aim of the meet us to elaborate the roles of multiple stake holders in determining line of treatment for a patient of prostate cancer. The format includes Radiation Oncologist and Medical Oncologist as part of the MDT along with Pathologist and Radiologist represented by a team leader amongst themselves. This will bring Pathologist, Radiologist, Urologist, Medical Oncologist and Radiation Oncologist on the same page as to how their interpretations of clinical materials affect patient outcomes.
More than 100 doctors was attended this meeting include Uro-oncologists, Urologist, Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Radiologists and Pathologists.
National and regional faculties who were attended this unique program was Doyens of Uro- oncology like Prof. N. P. Gupta, Ex- Head AIIMS, Head, Medanta, Dr. T.B. Yuvraja, Head, Uro-oncology, Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai, Prof. Anup Kumar, Head, Urology, Safdarjung Hospital Delhi was the main guest of this event.
Dr Kapil Gupta(PMC Member), Dr Kim J Memman(President, Punjab Urology Association), Dr. Swapan Sood(Secretary, Punjab Urology Association), Dr. RS Chahal(President, Jalandhar Urology Society), Dr Shamit Chopra(Chairman, Oncology Committee of IMA Punjab), Dr Rajesh Vashistha(President, AROI) and Dr JS Sekhon(Medical Oncologist) from Ludhiana was also attended the Inauguration ceremony.
