Punjab Remote Sensing Centre and GNDU joins hands
Amritsar-Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), Ludhiana have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of Geospatial Technologies. The document was signed by Dr. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar of Guru Nanak Dev University and Dr. Brijendra Pateriya, Director PRSC in the presence of Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor and other offcials.
Dr. Pateriya stated that such collaboration is needed for the conduct of society relevant research and making it cost effective. The expertise of PRSC in remote sensing and expertise of GNDU will be optimally used for undertaken projects related to GIS. Hi-tech training programmes and research projects will get major boost as a result of this MOU.
Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu said that this MOU has laid the foundation for interaction between GNDU and PRSC for Academic, Research Exchange programmes, consultancy services and solution at state, national and international level in the field of Geospatial Technologies based on expertise and resource availability in the respective institution. Faculty and students of GNDU will be able to work on live projects relevant to the people of Punjab, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi , Coordinator University Industry Linkage Program, said “The scope of MoU also involves sharing of expertise, domain knowledge and available facilities, publication of research papers in international journals, the exchange of staff for research programmes and jointly writing books in the areas listed above or in any other area of mutual interest.
Bedi said that the expertise of PRSC and GNDU will be optimally used for management of soil, crop and water resources in the country especially in Punjab region. Hi-tech development including end-to-end systems, networks and solutions to address water and food security, training programmes and joint research projects will get major boost as a result of this MOU.
Prof. Kamaljit Singh Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Avinash Nagpal, Dean Life Sciences, Prof. S.S. Chimni, Prof. Incharge Public Relations and officials from both the institutions were present on this occasion.
