Within 24 hours after taking charge, Minister inspected Jail
Patiala-Within 24 hours after assuming the charge, Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, today surprised everyone in the morning. He conducted a surprise inspection of Central Jail at the home town of Chief Minister of Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh, Patiala. He reached the Patiala Central Jail at 7.30 AM and inspected the record room, medical care centre, barracks.
He also inspected the building which is constructed, to set up a court within the Jail premises. He also interacted with the jail inmates and heard about their grievances, problems faced by them. In the medical care centre he assured that there should be no shortage of medicines and medical care for jail inmates.
While taking to the media after the inspection he pointed out at the shortage of staff inside the jail and assured that the department will recruit the staff to overcome the shortage. He said that he has directed the jail officials to ensure that jail inmates seeking paroles are not subjected to any harassment. He also declared that grant will be released for the installation of chapatti making machines and installation of Verka booth inside the jail premises. He also highlighted some shortcomings and ordered to overcome these shortcomings in the Jail.
